Principal Notes 10.30.2015
The school would like to thank all of the parents who were able to make it in for parent-teacher conferences this past Wednesday. Due to the state playoff game, conferences were moved to allow students, teachers, and parents an opportunity to attend the game. Many classroom teachers reported a 100% turnout. Parent-teacher conferences are a great way to check on the progress of your child(ren). However, I would encourage parents to contact their classroom teacher anytime they have a question about homework, behaviors, or other classroom policies. We want to keep the line of communication open and it is hopeful that conferences will not be the only time communication occurs between the parent and the teacher.
During parent-teacher conferences, I was able to walk around the building and ask many parents to complete our school-climate survey. This survey provides valuable information to the district regarding how we are doing through the eyes of a parent. If you did not have an opportunity to take the survey but would like to, please contact the school office. We certainly appreciate your input and feedback because it gives us an opportunity to improve or re-evaluate the way we are doing things. Results of the survey will be shared on our website, at a future board of education meeting, and through other community publications.
School climate surveys are used to aid the school improvement process. This year, surveys were completed by certified staff (teachers), classified staff (secretaries, paras, custodians, food service), parents, and students in grades 3-12. Climate surveys provide an opportunity for input regarding school communication, school environment, policies, and mission. Survey results are then tabulated and reviewed. The school then uses these results to determine what we are doing well and in what areas we need to review. Please consider participating in the survey.
Congratulations to our high school football team on a very successful season. The football team reached the playoffs for the first time in a number of years and finished their season with a tough game against a very solid team in Randolph. Thank you to the fans and community members who supported the football team throughout the season. Congratulations are also in order for our high school volleyball team following their thrilling victory over Diller-Odell in the Pioneer Conference championship game. The girls will look to continue their winning ways throughout sub-district and district competition this week.
