Hi, my name is DeeAnn Richardson.  I was born, raised, and graduated in Tecumseh.  I went only a few miles down the road to begin my post-secondary educational journey at Peru State College where I played collegiate basketball and graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Sports Management and a coaching endorsement.  After graduating, I became the manager of the Nemaha County Wellness Center in Auburn for ten years, toward the end of time there I was asked to coach basketball at Johnson-Brock.  My interest was instantly sparked to go back to school, so I went back to Peru State College where I received my second Bachelors degree in K-12 Physical Education.  Shortly after obtaining my teaching certificate, the school counseling position came open, and I was fortunate enough to land my first certified staffing position as a grow your own K-12 School Counselor.  Two short years later, I received my Masters degree as a K-12 School Counselor through Chadron State College.

Although my journey had some detours, I am excited to be in a position to have the opportunity to affect so many lives.  I firmly believe that building relations is an essential part of producing successful meaningful lives.  Everyday I enjoy working closely with students, staff, and patrons; together our support system works to identify and remove any barriers that may impede student achievement.

My support system consists of my immediate family; all have been influential in my career path, as our family has produced six teachers.  My husband, Harold is a Physical Education teacher at Sterling Public Schools.  Together we have two children, Andrew and Macy that keep us very busy with extra-curricular activities throughout the year.  In our spare time our family loves to be competing or watching numerous sports, and we also enjoy outdoor activities.
