The 2018-2019 school year will be my 8th year of teaching at Johnson-Brock Public School. This will be my 3rd year in the elementary special education classroom. I previously taught 5 years in the high school special education classroom before making the transition to the elementary. I work with a variety of students whose disabilities range from Other Health Impaired to Specific Learning Disabilities to Autism. I coordinated and collaborate with the elementary teachers in the building to ensure that “my students” receive a free and appropriate education.

Additionally, I continue to sponsor the Jr. and Sr. high quiz bowl teams. Even though our season is short, I enjoy the time I have to get to know more of the students who don’t walk through my classroom door. This school year will be my 8th year with the quiz bowl teams. I am also a member of the Student Assistance Team.

I grew up in Tilden, Nebraska and graduated from Elkhorn Valley High School. I attended Wayne State College and majored in K-12 Special Education. During my time at WSC, I was an active member of the Peer Education Network and the Student Council for Exceptional Children. I completed my student teaching at Neligh-Oakdale Public Schools in Neligh, Nebraska and graduated in May 2011.

I became a Johnson-Brock Eagle during the 2011-2012 school year. At the beginning of my second year Ms. Lori Broady nominated me for the NSEA Rookie of the Year Award and ultimately received the honor in April 2013. The summer after my first year I began the pursuit of my Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Peru State College. Through hard work and dedicated time I was able to complete my degree and graduated in May 2014.
